“Top Gun: Maverick” is an upcoming American action drama film and a sequel to the 1986 movie “Top Gun”. The film is directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, Tom Cruise, and David Ellison. Tom Cruise reprises his role as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, a United States Navy aviator.
The story follows Maverick as he becomes a flight instructor and mentor to a new generation of pilots, including Bradley Bradshaw (played by Miles Teller), the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer, Nick “Goose” Bradshaw (played by Anthony Edwards in the original film).
The film also features Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, and Ed Harris in supporting roles. The film was initially scheduled for release in July 2019 but was delayed multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The current release date for the film is May 27, 2022.
